Agua de
Salamanca

“They say that laughter
can sometimes be heard when the soul plays.
And that the dampness of grass,
and the freshness of the meadows
can be smelled where the soul dreams.”

By Margara

Very creamy perfume evoking the city of Salamanca. It combines the subtlety of musk with cedarwood and sandalwood, reminiscent of its origin in the university classroom. The head notes of the perfume are refreshing, with a cocktail of bergamot, juniper and lily of the valley giving way to aromatic herbs and flowers with hints of incense which allows us to enter its monuments. The base notes of the perfume are combined with the most gourmand notes of balms and wood with the sweetness of the mimosa where whiskey cream discreetly appears in honour of youth and the celebration of Salamancan evenings.

Our
Ingredients

“Laid down.
This welcoming land
land
took me
into its arms,
and its cold breath
returned life to me.”

Bergamot

This is a citrus fruit, halfway between the scent of bitter orange and lemon.

Juniper

Slightly smoked and leathery, bitter, reminiscent of pine resin.

Lily of the Valley

Convallaria majalis, Muguet or Lily of the valley. In France, small bouquets of this plant known as Lily of the valley are given as a symbol celebrating the arrival of spring.

Olibanum

Incense. This is a resin or organic secretion, obtained by making cuts on the trunk of the Boswellia sacra or olibanum tree.

Lavander

Lingering floral notes, fresh aromatics and some nuances reminiscent of the woody family, giving a fragrant aroma and unmistakeable intensity.

Sage

Just touching this makes it exude an intense fragrance, which explains why it is so valued in horticulture and cosmetics. Sage is rich in essential oil, which explains its great potential as an aromatic plant.

Myrrh

Myrrh is a kind of yellowish resin, solid in appearance, and which is usually collected in the form of small teardrops. It is the sap of a bush called Commiphora Myrrha, although it is sometimes found combined with the sap of other plants of the Commuphora genus in order to reduce costs. If myrrh is diluted in alcohol or water, a paste-like mixture with a pleasant scent similar to incense is obtained.

Musk

Substance nowadays made up of synthetic molecules which recall natural musk in their scent, providing a warm and heady aroma reminiscent of skin and which fixes the perfume very well.

Cedarwood

Aroma: This is an aromatic wood due to the resin inside. It contains a natural oil with a very characteristic fragrance which also serves to protect against mould and termites. Everyday objects which were present in our education are made with this: pencils, toys and musical instruments such as guitars, cajons and drums.

Sandalwood

This is a creamy aroma, sweet and slightly spicy, which smells of freshly-cut wood, damp earth, incense and pine. A warm, sensual scent. Sandalwood is usually a base note, which we perceive some time after applying the perfume. This serves to make other notes present in the perfume such as cedarwood become noticeable. A warm aroma, velvety woodiness, very sensual and slightly animal. Its captivating, milky scent is delicate, but very stable on the skin and it sometimes becomes gourmand*, slightly reminiscent of the smell of almonds.

*Gourmand: When a perfume includes sweet notes in its fragrance pyramid, it is called gourmand for this sugary touch which makes it so delectable… Enjoy these perfumes during the cold seasons of the year, when we seek compositions which give us a comfortable, cosy sensation. From the French for ‘gourmand’, ‘delicious’.

Mimosa flower

This is winter’s flower, which blooms in February announcing the arrival of spring. Floral scent with velvety tones and powdery tone.

Whiskey cream

Fresh and young, sweet and spicy at the same time.

The Packaging

The round forms on the top of the bottle are inspired by the curved finishes of the cupolas and skies of Salamanca. A blue cotton ribbon is wrapped around the neck of the bottle, where the Agua de Salamanca logo and Margara brand are embossed in white ink. From this hangs a creation in 316 stainless steel which is the flat interpretation of a laser-engraved charro button created exclusively for the perfume by the jeweller Complementos Mariamanuela in Salamanca.

“It must be the breeze which brings
the perfume of rain-damp earth,
seed of light and rumoured dreams,
murmured lullabies from far away.
It must be the paintbrush which gilds
leaves with gold and scarlet,
tilth which seasons the earth,
autumn of shadow and light.”
